Hi all,

Great Q2 mod, by the way. I connect using EGL, as I like the +10 gore! I play multiplayer on Q2Pro, but can't connect to coop World Server using it, for some reason - says the server is unreadable or something. Anyway, I normally play sp with KMQuake2, 3rd person mode, but wouldn't use this for the enhanced Monster spawn that coop provides.

My question: what's the best engine to use for others to join? I have the standard Q2, but prefer EGL. Is it possible for a classic Q2 connected player to join my EGL server? It'd be good to have another player join me, or I join their server. 8-)

Hey. I personally prefer the original Quake 2 engine, due to its stability  (I've tried few other engines aswell, especially EGL, but it usually ended up crashing the game; it wasn't too nice, since I used to be the host  )

As for EGL, there was a command such as "set net_compatibility 1" (I can't remember precisely its name) which allowed you to host games / connect to other players.

Hi Andrie,

I might play both - EGL for the gore  and then classic for joining with others. I'll see how it goes ...

Thanks, bean$ 8-)

EDIT: EGL crashes. KMQuake2 can crash. ClassicQ2 - seems most stable, but it's Classic Q2 :) I'll stay with KMQuake2 for now ...

Cheers, Uzver. I'll d/l and see how this 'original' set-up goes.
