The main character and the monsters are all illuminated by the same directional light. Maybe the effect you talk about is due to the fact that the 3 monsters seem to be cloned and have the exact same posture...

No, actually is because of the "shadow" of the char... You see, some ground that is supoused to be far away have the shadow generating the effect is closer.

Btw.. wich are your Objectives for it..

I mean: What do you want the game to have?
