Is it possible to host your own private world server? I'm getting prepped for an offline lan in the middle of no where and I would love to load up some classic quake 2 coop in style. Is it possible to run this mod remotely? Thanks for you time and the best coop mod for quake yet.

Hi Erwin, it is not possible to host a private world server.
But you can enable a multiplayer Quake2 server with the campaign in coop mode.

That's too bad, I'll just go the generic route then or just use Doom wads since they actually support good options for coop, good luck with the mod!

Just make sure you share the code if you become terminally ill, don't need any more locked down old game mods to go six feet under with their creators. I've found that happens way too often with quake mods unfortunately. I was lucky enough to snag builds of mega tf coop and custom tf coop for quake 1.

The source code has been public for a while now.

I tried myself to make the game more challenging by modding Coopordie a bit, but I never had enough motivation to finish it. (even if I remade the mod around.. 4? times)

@ANDREI: Erwin probably talk about the worlserver part. The piece of the worldserver that is on SourceForge is not complete, it's only the xmlrules part (map customization).

I will release the complete source code someday, probably under GPL Affero license, but it is not a trivial piece of PHP code. The worlserver share a part of database and code with phpBB and depend on a specific (and old) version of phpBB.

Trust me, for a coop lan party weekend, it's not the better idea.
